Flashback: Christine Centenera at PFW
May 15, 2011 § Leave a comment
Christine Centenera follows slightly behind ADR in those who I see as the icons of fashion right now. She’s completely under the radar in some circles and has a more conservative flair than ADR — but that really doesn’t mean much. She is the Editor of Harper’s Bazaar Australia as well as a freelance stylist. I think she’s brilliant. Where ADR picks the most out there pieces and sticks to the runway versions in order to give appropriate credit to the designers themselves, Centenera takes her own initiative and puts things together. I suppose that comes from the stylist part of her. Two completely different approaches and two completely different looks. These Celine pants are TO DIE FOR. The pattern and the shapeless style…I literally dream about them. Unfortunately, Celine is notably absent from any and all vendors online. Yet for those who are not loaded beyond belief, these pants are worth a month without food.

Carine Roitfeld at Chanel’s Resort 2012 Presentation

Roitfeld turned a simple, feminine Dolce & Gabbana dress into a piece of real style. The Miu Miu pumps with the red look stunning with the lace and bring a real edge that no one has yet to do with anything from this collection. I was surprised to see her in this dress, it’s simple and she rarely goes simple. But I love it nonetheless. She turned it into something really unusual.

Vanessa Paradis at Chanel’s Resort 2012 Presentation

This is chic and effortless. I love the simplicity of Paradis’ Chanel look. Rather than donning an out there, attention grabbing peace, Vanessa Paradis steals the show in a much simpler number. This long, black, sheer playsuit is amazing. The entire look from her hair to her footwear is simple and radiates ex-model.

This is style. These Asian celeb’s REALLY know how to rock interesting pieces. This is like, edgy, couture Lacoste in my mind. I loved the cropped button down with the black piece. I don’t really know what else to say other than that I think it’s amazing. It’s couture, and glamorous and sexy. Best in show in my opinion

Alexa Chung at the Chanel Resort 2012 Presentation

Again, not a huge fan of this. Either Chung is trying something new, having a rough week…or lost it? Who knows. Her hair is a complete mess and the dress does not really fit her really well. It’s disappointing, with this and the Met Gala. I love Chung’s style and I’d love to see her in something edgy again.

Blake Lively at the Chanel Resort 2012 Presentation

This outfit is much more suited to the event that Lively is at. I absolutely love this style, just as I loved the entire SS Couture 2008 collection. The collection completely works with her new mermaid hair…The way that the two pieces work together — both so modest and so youthful at the same time. She’s wearing Louboutin’s “Bibi” Ostrich pumps, a very nice touch in my book.

Cate Blanchett at Australian Fashion Week

The photo of Blanchett isn’t as flattering as it could but it was the only one that really showed off the dress. Cate Blanchett stunned in her last Givenchy piece at the Oscars and here she is again looking absolutely radiant. It’s opposite weather in Australia so I won’t condemn her for the winter look. This dress looks amazing on her. It’s definitely cut for an older woman (not that Blanchett looks old), the way the lines are are very stylish but also a bit conservative in the way that after a certain age women have to dress. While she can get away with rocking mini’s and cleavage, I like this look on her. It shows that she will stay stylish as she gets older. It also says a lot about Givenchy (at least to me) that Tisci is creating looks for all demographics.
