Elle Fanning at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards

If you told me Jacobs designed this dress for Elle Fanning I would not be surprised. This is so ethereal and fairy tale like. I love when she dresses like this, much better than her Fall 2011 Marc Jacobs piece which just didn’t fit her style at all. I love the color and the cut. The huge bustle makes her look like a Disney princess — Cinderella in my mind.

Eva Longoria at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund Awards

Talk about a fun sounding awards dinner. This pale seafoam looks amazing on Longoria though. It’s also nice to see her out of Victoria Beckham. The dresses fit her like a glove but are all variations on a theme. What a week for beautiful dresses!

Jennifer Damiano at the Tony Awards

June 16, 2011 § Leave a comment

Jennifer Damiano, new to the fashion scene as I have never seen her in anything like this before, wore a really gorgeous yellow dress. It’s funny how this unusual color is becoming really commonplace — with Blake Lively in her all yellow Chloë ensemble a few days ago, and now this. Also those mustard Charlotte Olympia satin pumps are having a real spotlight moment that I don’t think anyone saw coming. This is a bit of a fairy tale outfit but that is perfect for the occasion. The color that has the lovely layer of sparkle over it is a very Taylor Swift type outfit and that somehow completely works for me. While I wouldn’t have selected this for the Tony awards, thinking it is a very young look, it completely won me over!

Tammy Blanchard at the Tony Awards

While the concept behind Tammy Blanchard’s completely sequined gown is a bit overdone right now, she holds herself in such a way that it feels completely new. The blue is electrifying and the cut perfect for someone her age and with her style and way of holding herself. The cowl neck just heightens the beauty in a way that I truly love. She went minimal with jewelry and a very styled hair-do. I wish she had gone a bit more carefree with the hair but I think her earrings are perfect. A wonderful choice! For not a huge fashion event, she really pulled out all of the stops.

Patina Miller at the Tony Awards

Patina Miller brought back a Naeem Khan dress from three years ago — yet one that feels so current with the flashy sequins and animal print. It’s gorgeous. It’s a really simple print which is my favorite part. It’s such a simple concept and much less busy than many snakeskin bases. The dress is long on her and pools at the bottom which I really like. She’s draped in this amazing gown. Lovely.

Sarah Jessica Parker at the Urban Zen Stephan Weiss Apple Awards

While I still struggle to understand the mass appeal of L’Wren Scott’s dresses, which seem to fit poorly and have very simple and repetitive designs, SJP looks wonderful in this simple look. The complete nude outfit is very pretty as well as the dress fits her perfectly. This is a dress that is completely up her ally style wise and suits her. Rather than the uncomfortable rouching and oversized jackets we tend to see her in or the over-accessorized maxi-dresses, she really kept it simple and it worked beautifully. What I am a little baffled by is the gigantic bag she is toting with her to this event…what in the world could she need in there? The weather is gorgeous and presumably she is not paying for any thing there!
