Flashback: Kate Beckinsdale at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival

I’m aware this is ages ago — but these photos have been sitting on my desktop for going on a year waiting for something to be done with them. With the Celine Dion show and post that will follow…this seemed like the appropriate time (you will see why after…)
The reason these were on my desktop was because of the Gucci Première dress … there is no doubt in my mind that it is the most beautiful dress that I have ever seen. It’s a little campy with the sequined bow but it completely exudes glamour, a sign of phenomenal design. The Marchesa piece does less for me but probably because I am so incredibly in love with the Gucci one. Beckinsdale wore the show-stopper to the “Il Gattopardo” premiere and the Marchesa to “Robin Hood.”
This Balmain dress — the reason that this post is coming now and not around Cannes time — is fabulous. I’ve wondered constantly what she did with the belt — turned it around? Switched for a new one? Whatever it is completely rejuvenates the dress in a way that you do not know it needs until you see it. Rather than being a seductive piece she turns it into a statement. I cannot wait for this years Cannes — or really any other huge event…after awards season you’re really left spoiled with all of the couture. She wore this one to the “Biutiful” premiere.
