I have the highest expectations when it comes to Lagerfeld, and in this case it was a disaster. I know that this is a truly great show, but because of the incredible Fall 2010 show, this one did not live up to everything I desired. He was inspired by a film that Coco Chanel designed the costumes for, “Last Year at Marienbad.” The colors were morose and somber and the cuts were typical for a Chanel line. Still impressive, but not to the same extent. The black dress with lace bottom and uneven cut (first look, third row) was worn by Blake Lively in November to a Chanel dinner and can be seen on my other blog, here. […]

  • […] The beginning of this collection was pretty standard — black, shaped, dark. The ending was where I was truly stunned and inspired by Maier’s ideas. While these colors are commonplace now, for Fall there was not a lot of this beautiful blush color — it was like a premonition of the Golden Globes style trends (minus the emerald). The leather mixed material look is all over but it just is so tasteful and light in the peach color. I really love it. The purple number (the first I selected) reminds me of Blake Lively — I can so see her in this it’s not even funny. It reminds me a lot of the Elie Saab she wore (see here) […]
