Nicole Kidman at the CMT Awards

Kidman’s style is very unpredictable. She is generally a LBD woman with an affinity for leather. Yet occasionally she really shocks, and in those cases she tends to really miss — i.e. Oscars 2011, at least to me. I love the idea of this Proenza dress and I love that she went for it, yet it falls a bit flat. Her dress is a modified version without all of the velvet, which makes it a much better look for summer. Yet the abrupt transition from velvet to complete nude and sheer is a little off putting, as is the lavender sandals with a very green and velvet dress. While there is no doubt in my mind that she was best dressed for the CMT Awards, that’s not saying much as the red carpet was very strange and of all different themes. A disaster of a red carpet.
